چکیده

Abstract We obtained ultraviolet and optical spectra for nine M dwarfs across a range of rotation periods to determine whether they showed stochastic intrinsic variability distinguishable from flares. The were observed during the Far Ultraviolet M-dwarf Evolution Survey Hubble Space Telescope program using Imaging Spectrograph. observations taken Apache Point Observatory 3.5 m telescope Dual Spectrograph Gemini South Multi-Object used measure multiple chromospheric lines: Balmer series H α H10 Ca ii K lines. find that after excising flares, these lines vary on order 1%–20% at minute-cadence over course an hour. absolute amplitude was greater faster rotating in our sample. Among five stars which we measured weaker lines, note tentative trend fractional increases higher-order integrated flux emission features formed transition region: N v , Si iv, C iv resonance line doublets, He multiplets. signal-to-noise ratio UV data too low us detect nonflare same scale time cadence as optical. consider mechanisms propose both observational theoretical avenues investigation physical causes chromospheres dwarfs.

A Photometric Variability Survey of Field K and M Dwarf Stars with Hatnet

Using light curves from the HATNet survey for transiting extrasolar planets we investigate the optical broad-band photometric variability of a sample of 27, 560 field K and M dwarfs selected by color and proper-motion (V −K & 3.0, μ > 30 mas/yr, plus additional cuts in J −H vs. H −KS and on the reduced proper motion). We apply a variety of variability selection algorithms on the light curves to...

. I . Optical and Ultraviolet

Scattering and absorption properties at optical and ultraviolet wavelengths are calculated for an interstellar dust model consisting of carbonaceous grains and amorphous silicate grains. Polarization as a function of scattering angle is calculated for selected wavelengths from the infrared to the vacuum ultraviolet. The widely-used Henyey-Greenstein phase function provides a good approximation ...

QSO survey via optical variability and zero proper motion in the M 92 field III . Narrow emission line galaxies

We study a sample of 23 narrow-emission line galaxies (NELGs) which were selected by their strong variability as QSO candidates in the framework of a variability-and-proper motion QSO survey on digitised Schmidt plates. In previous work, we have shown that variability is an efficient method to find AGNs. The variability properties of the NELGs are however significantly different from those of t...

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...
